Student Assistant (gn) – Executive Education

The Hertie School in Berlin prepares exceptional students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society. The school offers master’s programmes, executive education and
doctoral programmes, distinguished by interdisciplinary and practice-oriented teaching, as well as outstanding research. Its extensive international network positions it as an ambassador of
good governance, characterised by public debate and engagement. The school was founded in 2003 by the Hertie Foundation, which remains its major funder. The Hertie School is accredited by the
state and the German Science Council.

The Executive Education department develops executive training programmes for high-profile international delegations and also conducts capacity-building and consulting projects. To support
planning and implementation of our projects, we are looking for

Student Assistants (mgn) – Executive Education
on a part-time basis (up to 20 hours/week).

The contract shall commence between 15 August and 1 September 2024 or upon agreement. The requested term is ideally 24 months or longer, with a minimum of 12 months.

  • each year, we implement around 80 international programmes. Our executive programmes include, for example:

Your tasks:

  • Coordination with high-profile project partners, communication with international participants
  • Supporting tender and funding proposals for new projects
  • Travel and logistics planning of international high-profile delegations for training and events in Berlin and other locations (some projects may include travel)
  • Participating in relevant institution visits in Berlin, such as different ministries or the German parliament
  • Supporting project budgeting and expense management
  • Assistance in the preparation of programme evaluations and project reporting to funders
  • Contact database management
  • Research on project-related topics, such as public sector innovation, digital transformation and AI, German and European governance, city governance, human rights, development
    cooperation, and leadership

Your profile:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant graduate program such as Public Administration, International Relations, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proficiency in English (German language proficiency is an advantage)
  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills to manage multiple high-profile projects and events
  • Strong communication skills for regular interaction with international participants and project partners
  • Competent in standard office software, particularly Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Moodle/aca5/Qualtrics would be an asset
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage and track multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Previous experience in project management or coordination would be an additional asset
