The mission of the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) is medical translation: transferring biomedical research findings into novel approaches to personalized prediction, prevention,
diagnostics and therapies and, conversely, using clinical observations to develop new research ideas. The aim is to deliver relevant medical benefits to patients and the population at large.
Since 2021 the BIH has been integrated into Charité as its so-called third pillar.
For the team of Janine Altmüller the area Genomics Technology Platform starting from August, 01 2024 until July, 31 2026 we are looking for a

Scientist Datenmanagement (d/f/m)
in part-time (19,5h/week)

The data management team of the genomics technology platform ensures the secure and automated flow, storage and delivery of sequence data, which are produced at two different sites in two
institutional networks. The 50% data management position is needed to establish an automated QC and delivery pipeline of NGS data and is limited to 2 years. This subproject within the data
management team should be initiated from August 2024 after moving to the Rachel Hirsch Center and be completed by July 2026. The relocation-related changes to the IT structures (including
relocation to a new cluster/IT infrastructure, complete conversion of data delivery to Charité and MDC) and domains will lead to a significant need for change and additional requirements in
our data management with additional personell demand for 2 years.

What you can expect:

  • Participation in data management and processing of the data generated in the genomics platform as well as consulting of project partners in scientific projects.
  • Development of automated pipelines for quality assurance of the generated NGS data; automation of the evaluation and delivery pipelines together with Genomics and IT (Scientific
    Computer Cluster at the Charité, IT Department of the MDC).
  • Problem solving in the area of demultiplexing, data management and delivery.

What you bring along:

  • Completed studies (Master/Diploma) in bioinformatics, medical informatics, biostatistics, data science or a comparable field of study
  • In-depth experience in dealing with clusters (Gid Engine, Slurm) and Linux
  • Knowledge of Bash, R, Python is required, knowledge of a higher programming language is desirable
  • Proven experience with NGS protocols
  • Good knowledge in the analysis of NGS data for various applications
  • Good Communication and teamwork skills
