Staff Software Engineer – Mobile Data & Analytics [Data Alliance](m/f/d)

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Squad: Join the Behavioral Data Products squad, owning end-to-end behavioral tracking across HelloFresh’s web and mobile apps (native Android/iOS, React Native),
handling billions of events monthly.

The Role: As a hands-on Staff Software Engineer, you’ll lead the technical direction for our mobile behavioral tracking infrastructure. You will spearhead our critical
migration from Google Analytics to Snowplow, embedding best practices like schema validation and automated testing. Collaborating with Foundations, Feature Engineers, and Product
Analysts, your work will directly enable real-time personalization, monitoring, and marketing attribution for millions of users globally. This is a high-impact role with significant
influence on our mobile data strategy.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead Strategy & Implementation: Drive the technical strategy, roadmap, and hands-on implementation for mobile behavioral tracking, including the migration from Google
  Analytics to Snowplow.
• Develop Tracking Solutions: Develop, maintain, and improve tracking SDKs, instrumentation code, validation tools, and tests across native Android, iOS, and React
  Native.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Mobile Feature Engineers, Foundations teams, Product Analysts, and Data Engineers on tracking design, implementation, and
  troubleshooting (using Firebase, Adjust, Snowplow).
• Champion Best Practices: Establish and champion best practices for mobile instrumentation, data quality, schema validation, automated testing, and privacy compliance.
• Mentor & Guide: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers on tracking best practices.
• Improve Systems: Proactively enhance the reliability, performance, and efficiency of our tracking systems.

What You’ll Bring:

Must-Haves:

• 7+ years of experience in native (Android or iOS) and React Native.
• Hands-on experience implementing mobile behavioral tracking/analytics solutions. Strong plus: Specific, hands-on Snowplow experience.
• Strong grasp of software engineering best practices (design patterns, testing, CI/CD, etc.).
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex mobile/data issues.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Passion for mentoring engineers and driving technical excellence.

Nice-to-Haves / Bonus Points:

• Native development experience on both Android and iOS.
• Experience designing and validating tracking schemas, knowledge of relevant data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA).
• Familiarity with mobile A/B testing frameworks.
