Job description: The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association aims to transform tomorrow’s medicine through our discoveries of today. At
locations in Berlin-Buch, Berlin-Mitte, Heidelberg and Mannheim, our researchers harness interdisciplinary collaboration to decipher the complexities of disease at the systems level – from
molecules and cells to organs and the entire organism. Through academic, clinical, and industry partnerships, as well as global networks, we strive to translate biological discoveries into
applications that enable the early detection of deviations from health, personalize treatment, and ultimately prevent disease. First founded in 1992, the Max Delbrück Center today inspires and
nurtures a diverse talent pool of 1,800 people from over 70 countries. We are 90 percent funded by the German federal government and 10 percent by the state of Berlin.

The RNA Biology Lab is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d) to join our team to study regulation of mRNA translation in complex organoid model systems.
The successful candidate (m/f/d) should have a strong background in genome editing, protein expression, and molecular biology, and with expertise in mammalian cell culture.
The successful candidate (m/f/d) will work in a dynamic and collaborative research environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.

Job Description:

  • develop novel approaches to better understand protein synthesis within three-dimensional, physiologically relevant environments through genome editing, degron approaches, synthetic
    biology, and single-cell activity-based screening
  • characterize engineered cells using techniques such as flow cytometry and molecular biology assays
  • collaborate with other members of the team to integrate new methods into our current workflows
  • analyse and interpret data, prepare manuscript for publication in peer-reviewed journal and interact with industry collaborations

Requirements:

  • PhD in cell biology, biotechnology, molecular biology or related field
  • expertise in mammalian cell culture, iPSCs, and genome editing techniques
  • strong background in molecular biology technique and next generation sequencing-based methods
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
